Which countries are crossed by totality?
NASA’s current public summaries identify the total-eclipse track across southern Spain and parts of North Africa and the Middle East. Why the centerline matters — and why it is not everything
The longest totality at any longitude is close to the centerline. But a practical eclipse site also needs a clear horizon, legal access, a safe road plan and a believable weather fallback. A site a little away from the mathematical centerline can be the better choice if it gives you better cloud odds or safer logistics.
