Climate background

Eclipsophile — 2027 eclipse climatology analysis provides expert interpretation of the cloud pattern along the path. Underlying cloud-climate context includes EUMETSAT/CM SAF products.

EUMETSAT CM SAF — Cloud Fractional Cover dataset is listed as free and unrestricted / CC BY 4.0 in the catalogue. We do not redistribute raw numerical CM SAF data in this build.

Weather API policy

The site does not use Open-Meteo's free hosted endpoint in production. Their current terms restrict the free API to non-commercial use, while an advertising-supported website is treated as commercial use. This avoids silently building monetization on an incompatible API tier.

Other sources

Government travel advice, local access rules and transport information change over time and are intentionally not hard-coded as permanent facts. Users should verify them before booking and again before travel.

Short-range weather: MET Norway

Near the event, TotalityTrip can use MET Norway Locationforecast 2.0, a global short-range forecast service. MET Norway states that Weather API data is freely available under open licenses including commercial use, subject to attribution and service-usage rules. Requests are proxied and cached by TotalityTrip. Displayed values are a selected and reformatted subset of the upstream forecast; this transformation does not imply endorsement by MET Norway.
