How to read the planner score
The score is a transparent planning heuristic that combines our long-range climate tier with a normalized nearby NASA centerline-duration benchmark. It is not a probability of clear sky, not an exact local eclipse calculation and not a travel-safety rating.
Use it to create a shortlist. Then read the destination guide, keep a backup direction and let the short-range forecast outrank small score differences when the event is close.
