2028 decision tool

Build a 2028 Plan A / B / C

Choose a region, priority and trip style. The tool ranks only matching destinations in the curated shortlist — it never silently widens your filters to force three results.

The index compares only destinations that match your filters inside this curated set. Climate inputs are qualitative planning context converted to a ranking factor; they are not observed cloud probabilities.

2028 source policy: global eclipse type and maximum-duration context are checked against NASA GSFC. Local planning benchmarks use the AAQ/Terry Cuttle circumstances table. Path and qualitative weather guidance use the Astronomical Society of Australia. Exact circumstances vary with coordinates; this site is not an official eclipse service.

How to use the result

Plan A is the strongest match for the preferences you selected, not a recommendation to book a specific field. Plan B and Plan C appear only when additional destinations actually match the same filters. For example, the current verified New Zealand shortlist contains Queenstown and Dunedin, so “New Zealand only” correctly returns two plans rather than importing an Australian option.

When the ranking should change

Months ahead, use eclipse geometry, access, seasonal climate and cancellation flexibility. In the final forecast window, the day-specific cloud pattern should become much more important. A lower-ranked base can become the correct operational choice if it is reachable and forecast to be clearer.
